Investigations

  • Influence of combined effects of low doses of ionizing radiation and exogenous nitric oxide on anti-tumor resistance, development of genetic instability, as well as on oxidative metabolism and tumor models ability to grow and form metastasis.
  • Development of methods for photodynamic therapy of tumors using nanobiotechnology. Fundamental studies on the mechanisms of action of low-energy light radiation on living systems. Chronobiological research.
  • Genetic instability and changes in free radical homeostasis in patients with precancerous breast pathology.

Modern techniques

Investigations are performed on cell cultures, experimental animals and samples of biological material from cancer patients. Human blood lymphocytes test-system, and such methods as analysis of chromosomal aberrations as well as investigations of the in vivo and in vitro irradiated lymphocytes proliferative potential are widely used. Other methods include ISSR-PCR and immunocytochemistry; absorption, fluorescence and chemiluminescence spectroscopy; FRET-analysis of nanocomplexes; fluorescent and chemiluminescent analysis of photooxidation processes; brightfield, luminescent and fluorescent microscopy; high performance liquid chromatography; flow cytometry; photodynamic therapy methods; synthesis of gold nanoparticles and nanocomposite photosensitizers.
