Pharmacotherapy and prevention of tuberculosis requires timely and active use of the most effective and safe medicines. Modern therapy of tuberculosis also provides for a comprehensive use of specific antimicrobial drugs and drugs of varying pharmacological groups.

The principle of combination chemotherapy can improve the effectiveness of treatment in general.
However, it should be taken into account that the effect of anti-TB drugs is accompanied by side effects, the severity of which may increase both in their combined use and in case of using the concomitant medicines.
One of the most common complications of TB therapy is the development of acute and chronic hepatitis. Despite significant advances in the treatment of tuberculosis, the problem of detoxifying the body during long-term use of anti-TB drugs is still quite relevant.

In order to reduce the toxic effects of anti-TB drugs and to treat complications, absorption techniques are used. In patients with impaired liver function which cannot be controlled by hepatotropic therapy, hemosorption using carbon-based sorbents helps to normalize blood biochemical parameters. Hemosorption helps improve the tolerability of tuberculostats in patients with toxicoallergic reactions to anti-TB drugs. Carbon-based enterosorbents can be used as a reliable means of detoxification in case of overdose or poisoning by anti-TB drugs and to reduce the toxic effects of the drugs.
